  • The airbag symbol is permanently on.

Beschreibung

I found a broken cable in the right rear seatbelt buckle, it was cut by a metal part. The root cause of the problem seems to be that (the small indicator icons show this seat permanently green, when I touch the broken cable together it becomes red like the others). I'll solder the cable together or replace it. But I still don't understand why the diagnostic tools cannot connect to the SRS system... The guy in a private (not Mazda) repair station was also unable to connect with an expensive looking Bosch tool.

Hello , thanks for your question in the autoaid Community.
Your described fault Code is maybe a burned fuse, after you battery renewing.
Look for all fuses and when there is already okay, then check the power supply from the Airbag Control Unit.
I think there is your problem.
This ECU needs Battery + and -
When there is also already okay, then your ECU is faulty and must be renewed..

Hi,

I checked the fuses both in the motor area and inside (especially the one 5A (10) for the SAS/SRS) with a multimeter, but all seem to be OK.
I also soldered the broken wire in the rear seat belt buckle together, now the seat belt indicators are at least OK, but it didn't change anything, I still see the same SRS/airbag warning light (on the dashboard and in the middle ("Passenger airbag off")).
The strange thing that it seems that the complete SRS system is locked or disabled and even AutoAid Starter is unable to connect to it: "KOMMUNIKATIONSSTÖRUNG MIT RÜCKHALTESYSTEM", it doesn't detect the ECU... (As I said, a private repairman was also unable to connect to it with a more expensive Bosch device.)
What do you mean by "check the power supply from the Airbag Control Unit" ? How can I do that? Is there a way to reset the SRS system somehow without the help of an official Mazda service?

Thanks for your help!

BR, Ferenc

Hello, i mean the Battery plus and ground at the ECU.
You checked the fuses, but use the wiring diagram and check all other connections.
Fuse F10 should be the Battery Plus for the ECU und Pin J/3 should be ground.
This is what i mean.
Another diagnostic tool couldn´t help, when the ECU isn´t with power supply..
